Blackbaud Project Day

The Challenge

 

Success of a charitable organisation is dependent on its donors. A donor is only convinced to donate to a charity if their views match with the organization.

 

Blackbaud gave us a challenge to help connect potential donors with a charity and motivate active donor participation in the cause of the organization.

The Problem

 

We did our primary research in the form of survey by asking donors about what are the things they look for when donate something to charity. We asked them how charities convince them to donate their money. We also did secondary research to see how charities work and how they ask people to donate for their cause. 

 

We found out from our research that donors get convinced to donate or volunteer for the cause of the non-profit organization if they see the results of the work they are doing. If donors know what their donations are being used for, they believe in the organizations work and vision and this helps build trust in the minds of donors for the organization.

 

We figured that to connect potential donors to non-profits we need do make a system where the donors can see what their money is used for, and if they want to get involved, they can also participate in doing the work for the organization. 

 

The Solution

 

We created a platform where non-profit organization can post a 12 hour challenge to achieve a small goal, like feeding hungry people in a specific location and time, to which donors can support by either volunteering or donating money.

 

Using this platform, the organizations will ask potential donors to donate or volunteer till the project day arrives. As the project day arrives and if the needs for their 12 hour challenge are fulfilled, the 12 hour challenge is executed.

Potential donors can visit the page of the organization they like and support them by donating money, things or volunteering.

 

As donors volunteer, donate money, or donate things, it is immediately reflected on the page of the challenge and the donors can see what their money is being used for.

When the project day arrives, the 12 hour challenge is executed and the goal is achieved. As the challenge is executed, the organization posts pictures and videos of the work in action and its results which the donors can see. This helps build trust in donors mind and eventually creating strong relations with the organization.

Result

 

We created a system which will help potential donors get actively involved with the cause of the organization to which they are donating to. They will also know what their donation in form of time and money are being used for. In the end, this can create strong relationships between donors and non-profit organizations. 

My Contribution

 

conducted surveys and secondary online research, created personas, contributed to initial and final concept sketching, created the final concept mock up wireframes and created the concept use scenario.
